Blessing a Home: How to clear bad energy from a house
You have just moved into what you thought would be the home of your dreams only to find that things are not at all what you expected. While on the home appears to be exactly what you wanted, there is something else about it that remains unsettling. Perhaps you are having bad dreams at night, you don’t feel a sense of peace, or your intuition is simply telling you that the home itself has a negative energy about it? Maybe you even feel the presence of an entity? Don’t give up hope if you sense bad energy in your home. There are several things you can do to cleanse a house of negative energy.
There are many different things that can give a home bad energy, but more often than not it has a lot to do with the mindset of the previous owners. Perhaps they fought a lot or were under a lot of financial stress? Maybe they were ill, depressed or lonely? Over time this kind of energy can permeate a home, charging it like a battery. Although it will eventually fade after they move out, it can take some time unless we take proactive measures to remove it completely. To this end, here are a few ways of cleansing a house of negative energies left by its previous inhabitant:
Having a formal house blessing.
Traditionally, many new home owners will have formal house blessing regardless of the energy that may be present. The purpose of such blessings is to both clear a house of any preexisting negative energy and to bring blessings for good fortune and prosperity in the future. All religions have home blessing ceremonies. If you are uncertain about your own, simply ask or do a little research online.
Cleansing a home yourself.
If you are more of a spiritual type of person, there are many things you can do on your own to cleanse a home. Incense has long been thought to possess strong cleansing powers. Sage, thyme, sandalwood, pine, jasmine and musk are varieties of incense used in cleansing rituals in particular, while dragon’s blood, basil and cedar can be used specifically to dispel negative energy. To be safe, get an incense holder and then go from room to room while you recite your favorite blessing. One simple one you can say is “May this home be filled with peace, love and happiness”, but you can certainly make up your own blessing as well.
Bringing in positive energy.
In addition to incense, there are many other things you can do to bring positive energy into your home. For instance, if there is a particular room that you are not feeling right about, consider painting it your favorite color and throwing up some curtains. You can also bring in flowers, house plants, or a small fountain. Adding just a little extra sunlight to a room can also do wonders for changing its energy. Also, if you are unfamiliar with feng shui, there is also a lot you can do with decorating and the placement of furniture that is specifically intended to bring positive energy into a home while dispelling negative influences.
Consulting a psychic.
In some cases, you may even want to consult a psychic. Psychics can be extremely good a reading a home’s energy and identifying the root causes behind it. If there are negative influence at work, they can also often provide specific recommendations on how to eliminate them.
It is important to remember that the longer you live in your home, the more it will absorb your own energy. Once you have put your mark on the home, it will undoubtedly feel much better to you. Make sure that you take the time to actually live in your home and make it your own happy and positive place.
